Lake Tekapo in the Mackenzie country of New Zealand has become famous for its incredible natural beauty and clear skies. Surrounded by mountain ranges and coloured by tussock and vast glacial lakes it is arguably one of the most beautiful places in the world. The altitude (more than 700m or 2300ft from the sea level) and the near ranges of the Southern Alps and Mt Cook keep the atmosphere dry and clear this is why the Mackenzie area is a great place for astronomy and skywatching. Tekapo is a photographer's paradise in which I am happy to be living and working.
